Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced that complaints regarding income verification under the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) scheme will be resolved within two months. Khattar, who is also the chairman of the Haryana Parivar Pehchan Authority (HPPA), assigned Additional Deputy Commissioners the overriding power to update income data in the PPP. They will verify this data using documents to ensure accuracy. PPP is a family information data depository scheme that promotes the paperless and faceless delivery of services to citizens. The PPP facilitates more than 500 government schemes and services, including ration cards, pension, caste and income certificates. Nearly 67 lakh families are registered with PPP thus far.
The newly-appointed ADCs will undergo joint training with other PPP stakeholders to expedite data updation. Khattar says the state of Haryana is the first to launch such a unique initiative and promotes the welfare of citizens. Government services linked with PPP use an online portal to reduce the need for citizens to visit offices to complete transactions. This further saves time and enables applicants to apply for PPP benefits while sitting at home. Khattar believes the PPP has transformed the public’s overall experience with the government scheme and has earned the state’s citizens critical praise.
Opposition parties like Congress have accused the BJP of using the PPP to promote its own political agenda. Some parties have vowed to discontinue the scheme if they come to power. Khattar disagrees that PPP is merely a political tool and that attacks on the scheme are unfounded. He points to the fact that many citizens have benefited from PPP services as evidence of the scheme’s merit. PPP is one of many government schemes aimed at improving the welfare of the people. Haryana’s government will continue to introduce new welfare initiatives for its citizens.
Khattar recognises that PPP-related complaints need to be resolved swiftly. There have been 8.64 lakh complaints thus far, of which 8.18 lakh have been resolved. The state’s government hopes that PPP will continue to benefit its citizens and that it will serve as a symbol of the government’s commitment to its citizens’ well-being.
