The Commissioner of Shaheed Benazirabad, Muhammad Abbas Baloch, chaired a meeting on Thursday to discuss the restoration of a railway track in the division and other related issues. According to reports, heavy damage was sustained in the division following the destruction caused by the National Highway and the railway during severe weather conditions.
During the meeting, the commissioner insisted on the urgent cleaning of all nullahs ahead of the expected rainfall and directed LBOD, Public Health Department, Municipal Corporation, and other departments to ensure the task is carried out. Furthermore, officials of the railway were instructed to prepare to drain out rainwater during expected rains, and to submit proposals indicating the areas and sites of the railway track affected during the last rains. The Irrigation Department will then release necessary funds to ensure the disposal of water easily.
Officials of the Municipal Corporation were also given specific instructions to clean all drainage nullahs of the city prior to expected rains and ensure that the required machinery is in working condition. In addition, the concerned department was urged to submit a proposal regarding the width of drains passing under the railway track.
Finally, the officials of the Health Department informed the meeting that Taj Colony Disposal had been upgraded for the purpose of disposing of water from under the railway track. Other district officials and departmental heads also attended the meeting.
The Commissioner stressed the importance of repairing the damaged railway track and other infrastructure in the division. The National Highway and Pakistan Railway are used to facilitate travel for the public throughout the country, and so it is essential that swift actions are taken to restore and maintain them to their original condition.
Restoration of the railway track will ensure that residents of the area have swift, safe, and comfortable travel options. The cleanup and preparation for the expected rainfall will go a long way in preventing further loss and damage to the region. The meeting was deemed successful in achieving its desired goals, and the Commissioner urged all concerned parties to work together for the betterment of the division.
