Chennai: College students in Chennai came together at the AI conclave organized by Avichi College of Arts and Science in Virugambakkam to explore various artificial intelligence (AI) business ideas. Among the innovative concepts discussed were a software to facilitate fact-checking, an app to declutter online resource material, and the creation of digital health records for universal healthcare.

The conclave attracted the attention of several startup companies, who expressed interest in investing in these early-stage ideas. Recognizing the potential of young minds, Mahesh Ramachandran, founder of Last Mile financial inclusion and tech innovations, announced the creation of a network of angel investors to support students in scaling their ideas.

According to Ramachandran, AI has extended its influence beyond technology and into fields like arts and health. He emphasized that arts and science colleges must seize opportunities to engage with technology experts to bridge the gap in understanding the integration of AI across diverse disciplines.

During the conclave, industry experts, startup founders, academicians, and students delivered presentations and participated in discussions to explore the applications of AI in healthcare, media, and cybersecurity. The event aimed to equip students with the knowledge and understanding necessary to effectively utilize AI tools in their respective fields.

A V M K Shanmugam, college secretary, highlighted the students’ desire to launch their own businesses but lamented the lack of access to mentors. He emphasized the importance of students meeting technology experts to gain valuable insights that cannot be acquired from textbooks alone.

AI has given rise to new job roles, such as AI specialists, data scientists, and machine learning engineers. Dr. N Bhuma, Principal of Avichi College of Arts and Science, stressed the need for students to be prepared for any job role, underscoring the invaluable learning opportunities presented by engaging with industry experts.

As the AI conclave in Chennai concluded, it offered a platform for students to ideate and collaborate on AI-based business concepts. The event strengthened the bond between academia and industry, empowering students to envision a future driven by artificial intelligence and its limitless possibilities.

Moving forward, the college and the startup community have expressed their commitment to nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators, ensuring a seamless integration of AI into various sectors and disciplines.

In conclusion, the AI conclave in Chennai provided a forum for students to explore and refine their AI-driven business ideas. With the support of startup companies and industry experts, these young minds are set to shape the future of technology and innovation in India and beyond.
