Colin Graves Appointed to the Board of The Yorkshire County Cricket Club Limited
The Yorkshire County Cricket Club Limited (YCCC or Club) has announced the appointment of Colin Graves as a new non-executive director of the Club. The approval of the Financial Conduct Authority for relevant changes to the Club’s rules paved the way for Mr. Graves’ appointment.
Mr. Graves’ appointment is subject to confirmation by YCCC’s members at the Club’s next Annual General Meeting (AGM). This decision follows a vote in favor of changes to the rules of YCCC regarding a loan agreement with Mr. Graves at the Club’s recent extraordinary general meeting (EGM).
It is expected that Mr. Graves will assume the position of the new chair of the Board at their next meeting, which will be held tomorrow morning. He will succeed interim chair, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, who will continue as a non-executive director, as well as former chair, Harry Chathli.
Mr. Graves rejoins the Board alongside Phillip Hodson, Sanjeev Gandhi, and Sanjay Patel. The new additions will join Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Leslie Ferrar, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Vaughan, and Darren Gough, the Managing Director of Cricket at Yorkshire CCC.
John Jackson and Richard Levin, the member-nominated directors, have stepped down from the Board. The process to replace them will begin shortly.
In response to his appointment, Mr. Graves expressed his honor and privilege to return to Yorkshire CCC. He committed to working tirelessly with the Board to address the Club’s financial challenges and ensure long-term stability for Yorkshire cricket. He also emphasized the importance of inclusivity, promising that everyone, regardless of background, community, or ethnicity, will be welcome at The Yorkshire County Cricket Club.
Stephen Vaughan, the Chief Executive Officer for YCCC, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Colin to the Board and highlighted the responsibility they all feel as custodians of the Club. He acknowledged that Colin’s experience as a former ECB Chair and his previous financial support for the Club will be valuable assets in moving the Club forward.
The recent changes in leadership at YCCC saw Harry Chathli step down as Chair, and Lucy Amos, Kavita Singh, Nolan Hough, Yaseen Mohammed, and Trevor Strain resign in accordance with the Club’s new financing plans.
As Colin Graves takes on this new role, Yorkshire CCC looks ahead to a future marked by financial stability, inclusivity, and a proud legacy in the world of cricket.
