Colchester United Vows to Keep Prize Assets Unless Valuations Met

Colchester United owner and chairman, Robbie Cowling, has stated that the club will not part ways with their valuable assets unless their price expectations are met. The announcement comes amid ongoing speculation about the potential departure of talented youngster Junior Tchamadeu. While Tchamadeu has been linked to clubs like Stoke City and Peterborough United, he remains a Colchester player as the new EFL season approaches.

Cowling affirmed the club’s support for their players’ ambitions to reach the highest levels of the sport. However, he emphasized that any sale would only occur if the club’s valuation is fully met. He stated, We have also kept to our plan to hold on to our prize assets unless we get an offer that fully meets our valuations for them. While we understand and support the ambitions of our players to reach the highest levels, we also have our own aspirations and will only sell if the move is mutually right for both the club as well as the player.

Colchester United is gearing up for the new League Two season and aims to compete at the top end of the table, pushing for promotion. The club has already made five new signings in the current transfer window, with more expected to follow soon. Additionally, changes have been made off the field, including the appointment of Matthew Etherington, a former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United winger, as the club’s new under-21 head coach.

Cowling expressed his satisfaction with the coaching team at Florence Park, highlighting the addition of Etherington. He stated, Matt brings a wealth of experience and passion to the role, having invested heavily in his own coaching career and holding a UEFA Pro Licence. His addition bolsters our coaching team, which now boasts four UEFA Pro Licence holders, including Dmitri Halajko, Ben Garner, and Scott Marshall. I believe that is quite remarkable for a League Two club.

Colchester United is determined to maintain their key assets while striving for success in the upcoming season. The club’s stance on selling players will depend on fulfilling their valuation requirements. As anticipation builds for the new campaign, fans eagerly await the outcome of transfer speculation surrounding Junior Tchamadeu and other potential signings.
