CMRIT Hosts National Social Hackathon, Setting New Innovation Benchmark

CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) and Atos India successfully hosted the National Social Hackathon, bringing together innovative minds from across India. Aspiring innovators were encouraged to create inventive solutions addressing social challenges, with the hackathon focusing on two categories: software and hardware.

Over 100 entries were received, with 25 teams shortlisted and assessed by experts from the Indian Institute of Science (IISC). The hackathon showcased an exceptional display of talent as participants pushed the boundaries of technology to make a positive impact on society.

Team Planeteers and team Bock Automotive shared the first prize for their innovative ideas in tackling pollution caused by automobiles. The runner-up, Team Cybiorg, developed a convenient alternative for patients undergoing physiotherapy to cure Monoplegia.

Innovation was not limited to the winners, with Rakesh and his team from CMRIT developing an app that revolutionizes the hotel sector through drone delivery. Another noteworthy team, ECO, focused on floral waste management and developed a solution converting floral waste into high-quality incense sticks, contributing to environmental sustainability. Meanwhile, the team S.A.P.P.H.I.R.E. from Kalasalingam University introduced an expression and gesture-based hardware control mechanism that enables users to control devices or screens using simple hand gestures.

Dr. Sanjay Jain, Principal of CMR Institute of Technology, expressed immense pride in the teams and their dedication and creativity, believing that these young minds will shape a better future through their technological prowess. The National Social Hackathon served as a platform for young innovators to showcase their passion, skills, and commitment to social innovation.
