Shrikant Shinde, son of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, accused some leaders in the State’s Dombivil unit of creating obstacles for the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. Shrikant claimed that these leaders are causing hindrances because of their selfish politics. However, he stated that he doesn’t aspire for any post and would back whichever candidate the senior leadership of the alliance selects. CM Shinde had expressed that the Shiv Sena and the BJP will co-contest all upcoming elections, including the Lok Sabha, Vidhan Sabha, and local body elections. Shrikant stated that their primary aim is to form the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance again and form a government with the BJP at the Centre. The Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde had met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss various State-related issues. The undivided Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena had won 18 Lok Sabha seats out of the 48 in Maharashtra during the 2019 general elections. Eknath Shinde, along with over 40 MLAs, broke away from the erstwhile Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray in June last year and eventually toppled the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra. The Election Commission, on February 17, granted the Sena’s signature ‘bow and arrow’ symbol to the Shinde camp, ruling further that the rival faction should now be called *Shiv Sena*.
