Cleveland Browns Seek Second Consecutive Victory against Indianapolis Colts: Quarterback Uncertainty Lingers

The Cleveland Browns are gearing up for their second road game of the season as they prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Following their impressive win against the previously unbeaten San Francisco 49ers in Week 6, the Browns are hoping to carry the momentum forward and secure another victory.

One of the main concerns for the Browns is the uncertainty surrounding their starting quarterback. Deshaun Watson, who missed the past two games due to a strained rotator cuff with microtears, returned to practice on a limited basis but still remains questionable for Sunday’s game. If Watson is unable to play, P.J. Walker will step in and make his second consecutive start for Cleveland.

Aside from the quarterback situation, there are a few other key storylines to watch out for in this Week 7 matchup. Despite their overall strong performance, the Browns have struggled in terms of takeaways. They currently rank 30th in the NFL with only four takeaways and have lost the turnover battle in every game this season. However, the Colts have shown a knack for creating turnovers, which could pose a challenge for Cleveland’s offense.

On the defensive front, the Browns have excelled against the run, with the fourth-best run defense in the league, allowing just 79.0 rushing yards per game. This week, they will face the Colts’ Jonathan Taylor, who has yet to find his stride since returning from a holdout earlier this month. While Taylor is a talented running back, it is unlikely that he will have a breakout game against the Browns’ powerful run defense.

In terms of the Browns’ offensive strategy, their running backs, Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, had a strong showing against the 49ers. Ford rushed for 84 yards, while Hunt contributed 47 yards on the ground along with a touchdown. If Cleveland’s offensive line performs well once again, they could find success against the Colts’ average run defense.

Overall, the Browns are poised to continue their winning streak, but much will depend on their quarterback situation and their ability to create turnovers on defense. If they can maintain the same level of aggressiveness they displayed against the 49ers, while also capitalizing on offensive opportunities, they have a good chance of securing their second consecutive win.
