Claudia Winkleman isn’t just there to cheer on the contestants throughout challenges and oversee the dreaded round table. It turns out that the Traitors host knows far more about the contestants than viewers may think, as the recently banished Charlotte Chilton has revealed the presenter actually knows everything about the show’s stars.
Speaking on The Traitors: Uncloaked podcast, Charlotte, a recruitment manager, confessed that Claudia has behind-the-scenes info on the contestants, including the embarrassing stories they recalled as part of their audition process. One of these stories, revolving around an excruciatingly painful and embarrassing moment when Charlotte rubbed Deep Heat in the wrong place, was subtly known to Claudia during a challenge.
Recounting the moment she realized Claudia knew about her embarrassing anecdote, Charlotte shared, I turned to her during one of the challenges and asked her, ‘Claudia, you seem to know a lot about us, do you see the stuff we do when we apply for the show?’ And she turned and said, ‘I can’t confirm or deny,’ you know how she says it. And then she looked at me and said, ‘But I know.’
Charlotte’s embarrassing story involved a mishap with Deep Heat, which she used for a different purpose than intended. She explained, I have had two brain surgeries, don’t worry, it is comical, and on my second brain surgery, because you can’t move your head very well, you get knots and everything around your shoulders so I had Deep Heat for that. But then also, when you have had a catheter in for a while, it can be a little bit sore, so I had a cream for that.
During a challenge called the Gold Rush, where contestant Harry injured his shoulder, Claudia suggested using some Deep Heat. Charlotte mentioned that Claudia’s knowledge of Deep Heat made her question how much the host actually knew about the contestants and their audition stories.
While Charlotte’s story provided some comedic relief, it also shed light on her struggle with trigeminal neuralgia, a debilitating pain disorder. Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Charlotte revealed that her condition, often described as the worst pain known to man, caused her to contemplate suicide. Trigeminal neuralgia is sudden, severe facial pain caused by compression of the trigeminal nerve.
Charlotte underwent brain surgery in her twenties to treat the condition, but her journey to recovery has been challenging. Sadly, she was involved in a car accident that worsened her pain, leading to another surgery and a longer recovery period. Despite her treatment, Charlotte continues to experience pain, and one side of her face often feels numb.
Charlotte’s willingness to share her experiences not only provides insight into the behind-the-scenes knowledge of Traitors host Claudia Winkleman but also raises awareness about the significant impact of conditions like trigeminal neuralgia.
