The 103rd Claremorris Agricultural and Trade Show is set to take place tomorrow, August 6th, at the Claremorris Athletic grounds, affectionately known as the Racecourse by locals. The event will be opened by Heather Humphreys, Minister for Rural and Community Development, who will also unveil a plaque commemorating the historic 100th Show held at the venue in 2018.

With over 270 classes, including cattle, sheep, horses, vintage displays, farm and garden exhibits, cookery demonstrations, and a dog show, the Show promises to be a day of excitement and entertainment for attendees. Showjumping competitions will also be held throughout the day in the arena.

One of the key attractions at the Show will be a fashion show presented by Mandy Maher Catwalk Agency, as well as a cookery demonstration by acclaimed TV chef Adrian Martin from Cavan. These special events are sure to captivate the audience.

In addition to the diverse range of exhibitions and activities, the Show will feature a variety of trade stands offering interesting products and services. For younger attendees, there will be a selection of children’s entertainment to keep them engaged and entertained throughout the day.

To add to the festive atmosphere, popular band David Connor and his group will provide live entertainment on the main stage from 3 pm to 5 pm, including a jiving competition. The Turley Duggan Irish Dancing Academy will also showcase their talents during the afternoon, ensuring there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Claremorris Agricultural and Trade Show has received strong support from sponsors, including its main sponsor Corrib Oil. Established in Claremorris in 1987 by Eugene Dalton, Corrib Oil has become one of the largest companies in the retail forecourt and oil distribution business. With 36 retail stores, service stations, and 25 oil distribution depots throughout the west, south, and east, Corrib Oil supports over 1,100 local jobs across the region.

A highlight of the Show will be the final of the All Ireland Junior Home Cook Championship, a national competition for young people who have qualified through regional shows. The winner will receive a NordMende appliance voucher worth €1,000 and a week-long cooking course at the prestigious Ballymaloe Cookery School valued at €1,000.

The Show is organized by a dedicated team, including chairman Tom Connolly, who has been actively involved in numerous local committees and organizations, and secretary Maureen Finnerty, whose behind-the-scenes efforts contribute to the success of the event. Michael McGrath, the treasurer, has been involved in various aspects of athletics over the years and has been serving as a show treasurer for about 18 years.

To make it a convenient experience for attendees, free shuttle bus service will operate from Claremorris town centre throughout the day, ensuring easy access to the venue.

Despite rising costs, the show committee has decided to keep the admission fee at €10 for adults, with cash or card payments accepted. Children under the age of 16 can enter for free.

For more information about the show, including a schedule of events, interested individuals can visit the official website at www.claremorrisshow.com or check out the Claremorris Show Facebook page. Additional inquiries can be directed to Maureen Finnerty at 087 9241450.

As the 103rd Claremorris Agricultural and Trade Show returns, it promises to be a day filled with agricultural displays, trade exhibits, entertainment, and much more. With its rich history and strong community support, the Show continues to be a highlight for locals and visitors alike.
