The Congress party in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has accused CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Mohan Yadav, local Minister of Higher Education, of approving the city’s Master Plan to protect their commercial interests and those of local builders. According to the Congress party, the Ujjain Master Plan has only been approved due to the influence of those with vested interests and if the government does not address objections, it will launch a significant protest. Sajjan Singh Verma, former Minister, also suggested that the approval of the Plan will result in a loss of Rs 500 crore to the state exchequer, while land mafias may benefit from at least Rs 1500 crore. In response, the Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) reinforced its opposition to any tampering with the Simhastha Fair area.
