Cillian Murphy’s son Aran has landed a role in Taika Waititi’s upcoming film, Klara and the Sun. The news was confirmed by US entertainment industry website Deadline, which reported that Aran will be joining newcomer Mia Tharia in the Sony 3000 Pictures project. The film already boasts a star-studded cast, including Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams.
Klara and the Sun is based on Nobel prize-winning author Kazuo Ishiguro’s dystopian sci-fi novel. The story revolves around Klara, an Artificial Friend (AF) who is designed to combat loneliness. She is purchased by a mother, played by Adams, to be a companion for her sickly daughter, Josie, portrayed by Tharia.
Murphy will take on the role of Rick, Josie’s best friend and next-door neighbor. The film is being produced by Heyday Films’ David Heyman, Garrett Basch, and Taika Waititi, with Ishiguro serving as an executive producer.
This latest project adds to Aran Murphy’s growing acting repertoire. He previously played the title character in the play Hamnet, which ran from 2018 to 2019. He also appeared in the Andrew Legge-directed movie Lola in 2022.
Fans of Cillian Murphy and Taika Waititi will undoubtedly be excited to see Aran showcase his acting skills in Klara and the Sun. As the film continues to gather momentum, anticipation is building for its release. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated adaptation.
