Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has expressed his delight at Daniel Ricciardo’s return to Formula 1 after the Australian driver impressed during a recent Pirelli tire test at Silverstone. Ricciardo, who had been scheduled to participate in the test as part of his third driver duties for Red Bull Racing, was unexpectedly called up by AlphaTauri later in the day.
AlphaTauri confirmed that Ricciardo would replace Nyck de Vries at the team from the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix onwards, on loan from Red Bull. Despite spending several months away from the cockpit, Horner believes Ricciardo hasn’t lost any form and is still as fast as ever. The Red Bull principal praised Ricciardo’s performance during the tire test, stating that his times were extremely competitive.

Scuderia AlphaTauri Team Principal Franz Toast also expressed his satisfaction with Ricciardo’s return to the team.
