Butler County Daycare Worker Charged with Assault for Throwing Infants
CENTER TOWNSHIP, Pa. – A shocking incident at a daycare center in Butler County, Pennsylvania has led to charges against a childcare worker accused of throwing infants on the ground. Taylor Titley, an employee at Sheryl Buffington’s Daycare & Preschool Palace in Center Township, has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
The investigation into Titley began after a six-month-old boy sustained a fracture to his arm and was rushed to UPMC Children’s Hospital on June 13. Multiple former and current employees were interviewed during the police’s inquiry. They revealed disturbing details of Titley’s actions, stating they witnessed her throwing the infants onto the ground and sleeping mats. One employee even claimed to have seen Titley throw the infants from a height of 3 to 4 feet in the air about 20 times.
The individuals interviewed by investigators described an environment in which Titley was overly strict and easily agitated when the infants did not adhere to her feeding and nap time schedule. They alleged that Titley would yell at the infants and aggressively grab and drag them. In one instance, an employee witnessed Titley using a flashlight to check the pupils of an infant she had thrown, concerned that the child may have hit their head too hard.
It is deeply distressing to think that an individual entrusted with the care of these vulnerable infants would engage in such violent behavior. The charges against Titley reflect the seriousness of her alleged actions and the potential harm inflicted upon these defenseless children.
Parents and guardians who had trusted their little ones to the daycare center are now left grappling with shock and concern. The safety and well-being of children must always be a top priority, and incidents like these raise questions about the screening and supervision processes in place at such facilities.
This case serves as a reminder of the importance of thorough background checks and continual monitoring of daycare workers to ensure the utmost safety of the children under their care. It is crucial for parents and guardians to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious or untoward behavior observed in childcare settings.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about this incident or other potential incidents involving Titley to come forward, as they continue their investigation. The daycare center, Sheryl Buffington’s Daycare & Preschool Palace, has not yet released a statement regarding the charges against their former employee.
As this distressing story unfolds, it is vital for the judicial system to carry out a comprehensive investigation and for justice to be served. The children who experienced this alleged abuse deserve nothing less.
