Chhattisgarh Assembly Election: BJP’s New Education Policy Aims to Promote Local Language Learning for Students

The upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly Election has brought education to the forefront of political discussions. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently announced that if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power in the state, they will implement a new education policy that focuses on teaching students the local language. This policy is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which emphasizes the importance of mother tongue-based education.

During the BJP’s previous rule in Chhattisgarh under Raman Singh’s leadership, Chhattisgarhi language was designated as the state language. Now, the party aims to take it a step further by incorporating the local language into the education system. According to Pradhan, learning in one’s mother tongue enhances critical thinking, research skills, and logical capability. Therefore, the BJP’s focus will be on imparting education in Chhattisgarhi language under the NEP, which they believe will contribute to the inclusive development of the new generation.

In addition to highlighting their education policy, Pradhan criticized the promises made by the Congress party. The Congress recently announced a scheme to provide Rs 15,000 annually to women if they retain power. Pradhan questioned the credibility of these promises, pointing out that the ruling party has not fulfilled previous commitments such as providing Rs 1500 as old age pension, waiving loans for Self Help Groups, supplying four cooking gas cylinders to rural families, and implementing a liquor ban. He accused the Congress of prioritizing corruption over women’s empowerment and claimed that they are making futile attempts to hinder the BJP’s success in the elections.

Chhattisgarh Assembly Election proceeds with the second phase scheduled for November 17, and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. With education and women’s empowerment as key issues, both the BJP and the Congress are striving to secure victory.
