Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently announced that Chhatarpur Nagar Palika Parishad will be developed into Chhatarpur Municipal Corporation. During the Chhatarpur Gaurav Diwas celebrations on Friday, which was also the birth anniversary of king Chhatrasal who founded Chhatarpur, Chouhan also announced plans to build a memorial in his name and directed officials to cancel the tender of a contractor who failed to begin construction on Chhatarpur Medical College. Chouhan emphasized the importance of girls and women’s rights by mentioning the Ladli-Lakshmi Yojna, a program which transfers Rs. 1,000 to the accounts of each woman every month, and reducing the registration fee for land transfers to women. Plans were also discussed for the creation of Ladli Behna Sena in each village and an upcoming special Gram Sabha on June 8. Additionally, many civic leaders were honored and projects were inaugurated.
