Several African cheetahs that were translocated to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh will be shifted to Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Mandsaur and Neemach districts of Madhya Pradesh by November 2021. The cheetahs were to be relocated to the Mukundra Hills Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, but the Cheetah Task Force Committee has now prioritized the Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary. Chandra Prakash Goyal, Director General of Forest Ministry, confirmed the sanctuary was the first priority for relocating some of the cheetahs, followed by the Nauradehi Wildlife Sanctuary. The focus is now on preparing the sanctuary by fencing an 80 sq km area and developing grassland, at a cost of Rs. 20 crore. Meanwhile, the project at Kuno is ongoing, with space for 21 cheetahs, 20 cheetahs already introduced and four cubs born in the park. However, three cubs and three mature cheetahs have died.
The Bhopal article did not mention a company. This article will focus on the main topic of relocating cheetahs, with an emphasis on the choice of Gandhi Sagar Wildlife Sanctuary in Mandsaur and Neemach districts of Madhya Pradesh as the new habitat for some cheetahs.
