A district attorney in Tennessee has dropped charges against country singer Chris Young after an encounter with Alcoholic Beverage Commission agents. Nashville District Attorney Glenn Funk dismissed the charges against Young after a review of all the evidence. Young had been arrested and charged with assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. The incident occurred when the agents were conducting compliance checks at the Tin Roof bar in Nashville. Young began questioning and recording the agents after they asked for his identification. The situation escalated as Young and others followed the agents into a neighboring bar called the Dawg House. According to an arrest affidavit, Young put his hands out to stop the agents and struck one of them on the shoulder. Another agent approached Young, who stepped back and refused to follow orders, resulting in his arrest. Multiple people with Young also allegedly created a hostile situation by following the agents. Young’s attorney, Bill Ramsey, maintained that the singer should never have been arrested and called for an apology from the agents. In a statement following the charges being dropped, Ramsey expressed his satisfaction with the decision. Chris Young, known for hits like Tomorrow and Getting You Home, can now put this incident behind him.
