The number of pilgrims visiting Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand has crossed over 20 lakh, with more than 40 lakh pilgrims registered for the yatra so far, according to government officials. Maximum footfall has been recorded at Baba Kedarnath, with over 7.13 lakh pilgrims visiting the shrine thus far. Due to the current crowd, the government has banned online registration for the Kedarnath Dham Yatra until June 15th.
About 60,000 devotees visit Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri Dham daily when the weather is clear. The Char Dham Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage that includes four holy shrines- Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath. The doors of the Kapat (door) of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines opened for devotees on April 22 on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. The doors of the Kedarnath Dham shrine opened on April 25 and Badrinath Dham on April 27.
On May 17, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Registration Office-cum-Transit Camp for Char Dham Yatris in Rishikesh at a cost of approximately Rs 22.25 crore. Dhami has stated that the government has made efforts to provide all possible facilities to the devotees for the Char Dham Yatra.
Dhami also interacted with devotees from different states, who had arrived for Char Dham Yatra and reviewed all the arrangements made at the hospital, registration office, inquiry, and help centers in the transit camp.
Kedarnath temple is one of the most prestigious temples in the country, and people from across the country visit the temple during the six months when the temple is open.
