Chandrayaan-3 Successfully Lands on Moon: Karnataka CM to Honor ISRO Team

In a historic achievement, the Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft’s lander made a safe landing on the moon, creating a significant milestone for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). This achievement was lauded by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who announced that the state government would organize a special program to honor the ISRO team for their success.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the Missions Operations Complex at ISRO’s Telemetry, Tracking, and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru to felicitate ISRO Chief S Somanath and his team for their remarkable achievement. He spent time interacting with ISRO scientists and officials, expressing his appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

The government will officially honor them by organizing a special program at the Banquet hall at Vidhana Soudha. About 500 scientists from Karnataka were part of it. ISRO Chairman S Somanath and his team will be honored, stated Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Highlighting the significance of ISRO’s accomplishments, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah emphasized that the government would provide full support and cooperation to ISRO for their future initiatives. He described ISRO as the pride of the country, acknowledging the tireless efforts of scientists who worked day and night to achieve this momentous feat. Notably, around 1,000 scientists from across the country and approximately 500 individuals from Bengaluru were involved in the Chandrayaan-3 project.

India made history with the successful landing of the Chandrayaan-3’s Lander Module (LM) on the lunar surface. This accomplishment makes India the fourth country to achieve a soft landing on the moon and the first to reach the unexplored south pole. The LM, consisting of the lander named Vikram and the rover Pragyan, executed a smooth landing near the moon’s south polar region.

ISRO announced that the rover had launche and successfully descended from the lander. Today, India truly took a remarkable step forward on the moon.

The date of the felicitation program for the ISRO team will be determined after September 2, giving due recognition to their groundbreaking work.
