Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit has launched an initiative aimed at distributing sports kits to school players belonging to low-income groups in the city. The programme, launched by the Competent Foundation headed by philanthropist Sanjay Tandon, will provide 175 kits to children aged between 10 and 16 years old, along with promoting education in schools. In addition to government support, Purohit highlighted the need for corporate sponsorship to nurture young talent in the city, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds. Tandon, president of the UT Cricket Association, hopes that these efforts will lead to strengthened participation in the ‘Khelo India Games’ for every age group.
