Champaign County Sheriff’s Office Seeking School Supplies Donations for Back-to-School Barbecue
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is reaching out to the community for support in their second annual back-to-school barbecue by soliciting donations of school supplies. The event aims to provide children with the essential items they need for a successful academic year. In addition to school supplies, the day will be filled with free food, entertainment, and fun activities for families to enjoy.
The school supply giveaway will take place on August 5th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Prairie Fields Park in Savoy. The distribution will be done on a first-come, first-served basis, emphasizing the importance of early arrival to ensure access to the supplies. In order to make this event a success, the sheriff’s office employees are hoping for a generous response from the community by donating school supplies before the big day.
To encourage donations, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is organizing a Stack the Squad event on July 22nd and 29th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Savoy Walmart. Volunteers will be present to collect the items and answer any questions regarding the back-to-school barbecue.
For those unable to attend the event at Walmart, school supplies can also be dropped off at the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office at 204 E. Main St., U, or at the Savoy Municipal Building located at 611 N. Dunlap Ave. The deadline for donations is August 2nd at 5 p.m., allowing the staff sufficient time to prepare for the event.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office kindly requests the community to consider donating backpacks, boxes of 12 colored pencils, 24 crayons, No. 2 pencils, two-pocket folders, rulers, highlighters, and notebooks. These essential items will go a long way in equipping children for the upcoming school year.
The back-to-school barbecue not only aims to provide students with necessary supplies, but also creates a festive atmosphere to celebrate the start of a new academic year. Families can enjoy delicious food, engaging entertainment, and spend quality time together, all while ensuring their children have the tools they need to succeed.
The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is committed to serving the community in various ways, and this event exemplifies their dedication to supporting local families. By organizing the back-to-school barbecue, they aim to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by families during the back-to-school season and provide a fun-filled day for everyone to enjoy.
As the back-to-school season approaches, let us come together as a community and support the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office in their efforts to provide children with the essential tools for success. Your generosity will make a significant impact on the lives of local students and contribute to their educational journey. Join the cause and help make this year’s back-to-school barbecue a memorable and impactful event for all.
