CEO of Careless Record Label Detained in Philippines for Lack of Work Permit
The Bureau of Immigration has confirmed the detention of Jeffrey Oh, the CEO of independent record label Careless and the career manager of US-based actress Liza Soberano. During an episode of Fast Talk with Boy Abunda, Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval confirmed Oh’s arrest in Makati last week.
According to Sandoval, Oh’s detention was a result of his failure to provide proper documents relating to his alien work permit, which is required for him to work in the Philippines. Oh, a New York-based Korean-American, is a business partner of Careless CEO President James Reid.
News of Oh’s arrest on July 28 was initially reported by showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin, who also mentioned the possibility of deportation proceedings due to operating his business without a work permit.
Dana Sandoval, the spokesperson of the Bureau of Immigration, confirmed the reports. Jeffrey Oh is a Korean-American CEO of Careless Entertainment, a company he established with James. He also owns several restaurants and a club lounge in Makati, revealed Abunda.
Boy Abunda, the TV host, further disclosed that his team inquired about the complaint filed with the Bureau of Immigration, but Sandoval declined to comment.
While Careless has not yet released a statement regarding Oh’s arrest and detention, it aligns with Cristy Fermin’s claims on July 31. It remains unconfirmed whether it was the father of James Reid who alerted immigration agents to the foreigner’s case.
Careless, which also represents Issa Pressman in addition to Reid and Soberano, has not issued a statement regarding the matter.
