In a shocking and gruesome incident, the CEO of Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence start-up, Mindful AI Lab, allegedly killed her four-year-old son and attempted to flee to Karnataka with his body. Suchana Seth, a 39-year-old founder of the company, was apprehended in Chitradurga district on Monday, and the lifeless body of her son was discovered inside a bag she was carrying.

The horrifying act took place at an apartment in Candolim, north Goa. The motive behind the murder is yet to be determined. Seth and her son had checked into the Sol Banyan Grande hotel in Candolim on Saturday. However, on Monday, Seth checked out of the hotel alone and insisted on taking a taxi to Bengaluru, despite hotel staff suggesting she should consider taking a flight.

During the investigation, the housekeeping staff at the hotel discovered bloodstains in Seth’s apartment after her departure and immediately alerted the local police. The authorities then approached the taxi driver who had driven Seth, and upon questioning her about her son’s whereabouts, she falsely claimed that he was with a friend, providing an address that turned out to be untrue.

Growing suspicious, the police decided to converse with the taxi driver in Konkani, a local language, to ensure Seth wouldn’t comprehend their conversation. In a confidential exchange, they instructed the driver to divert the cab to the nearest police station in Chitradurga.

Suchana Seth’s LinkedIn page states that she was recognized among the top 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics for 2021. Her profile also highlights her position as a fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Centre, showcasing her extensive expertise in the field of data science. With over 12 years of experience, Seth has made notable contributions as both a data scientist and a mentor, playing a pivotal role in developing machine learning solutions and leaving an indelible mark on start-ups and industry research labs.

The investigation into this distressing incident is still ongoing, as authorities work to determine the motive behind the CEO’s alleged act and unravel the full details of the tragic event. The arrest of Suchana Seth, who was admired and respected within the field of artificial intelligence, has left many shocked and bewildered, making this a case that evokes deep concern and sadness.

As more information emerges surrounding this devastating event, it serves as a chilling reminder of the fragility of human lives and the importance of understanding and addressing mental health struggles that may arise even within the most accomplished individuals.
