The Catholic Society in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, is gearing up to celebrate the feast day of Saint Anthony on June 13th. The occasion will be marked with a march that will commence at 5:30 am from the Red Church in Indore and culminate at the St Anthony Church in Mhow. The event is expected to attract devotees with fervor from various districts in the state, including Indore, Dewas, and Ujjain.
The tradition of organizing a march in honor of Saint Anthony dates back to 1987, when only five people participated in the event. Over the years, the march has gained popularity and now attracts around 250 participants.
The parish priest of Red Church, Father Thomas Mathew, will lead the march with a prayer at the grotto of Mother Mary. The procession will pass through GPO Square and Bhanwarkua Square, halting at St. Joseph’s Convent before reaching the final destination in Mhow. The parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, Mhow, Father Rajamanickam, and the Catholic congregation of Mhow will welcome the marchers on their arrival.
In the evening, all the devotees will participate in the Holy Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Ghorkhata, Army Area, which will be offered by Bishop Chacko of Indore Diocese in the presence of several priests.
This event is a significant occasion in the Catholic community’s calendar in Indore. It offers an opportunity for devotees to pay their respects to Saint Anthony and strengthen their faith through collective prayer and participation.
