Casio Middle East and Africa FZE, in collaboration with Nigerian distributor SKLD, recently hosted a groundbreaking dealer conference in Lagos to address the issue of counterfeit calculators. The event aimed to emphasize the importance of genuine Casio calculators and raise awareness about the negative impacts of counterfeit products.

The conference brought together key stakeholders from the education sector, distributors, and representatives from Casio headquarters in Japan. Notable attendees included Casio’s General Manager, Mr. Koji Shinjo, and Senior Education Specialist Koichi Danjo from the Educational Sales and Planning Department.

During the conference, Takashi Seimiya, Managing Director of Casio Middle East and Africa, highlighted the company’s unwavering commitment to providing genuine calculators. He emphasized that Casio is not only equipping teachers across Nigeria with the necessary skills to integrate Casio technology into their classroom lessons but is also ensuring that students have equal opportunities and access to authentic learning tools.

Seimiya stated that this dedication aligns with Casio’s broader vision of nurturing global competitiveness and preparing students to thrive in an interconnected world. The event shed light on the benefits of the Casio Model School Project, which aims to cultivate critical thinking skills required for 21st-century education and empower students with the tools they need to succeed in the modern world.

The conference also highlighted Casio’s collaborations with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, particularly its donation of the Casio Lab facility to the Lagos State Education Resource Center. Over 2,000 teachers have undergone specialized training in this facility to date.

SKLD Integrated Services, Casio’s Nigerian distributor, showcased their expansion efforts and commercial intents during the event. They discussed collaborations with the National Examinations Council (NECO) and mentioned other engagements with the Lagos State government and Lead City University, which could deliver significant revenue opportunities. They also outlined plans to expand to the Port Harcourt and Abuja markets, offering revenue opportunities to distributors interested in partnering with them.

The conference also recognized and rewarded the top six sales contributors to Casio and SKLD’s business in the last financial year. This acknowledgement of their achievements motivated others to strive for better business margins in the present and future.

To underscore the importance of using genuine calculators, Casio conducted product demonstrations during the conference, educating dealers on how to easily identify authentic Casio calculators. They emphasized the risks and consequences of relying on counterfeit alternatives, warning that using fake calculators not only yielded incorrect results but also compromised the integrity of calculations.

The conference serves as a testament to Casio’s dedication to the Nigerian market and marks a significant milestone in the fight against counterfeit calculators. By promoting genuine learning tools, Casio aims to create a level playing field for Nigerian students and ensure they have access to high-quality educational resources.

Overall, the event highlighted Casio’s commitment to supporting teachers, fostering collaborations, and eradicating counterfeit/fake calculators. Through their efforts, Casio and SKLD aim to pave the way for a brighter future in education and empower students to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
