CGHS Beneficiaries to Receive Cashless Treatment at Three Premier Medical Institutes

In a recently signed agreement, CGHS beneficiaries will now be able to receive cashless medical treatment at three of the top medical institutes in the country. The agreement was signed between the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) and three institutes: AIIMS in New Delhi, PGIMER in Chandigarh, and JIPMER in Puducherry, in the presence of Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan.

This initiative builds on six MoAs signed on May 20 between the CGHS and other All India Institutes of Medical Sciences situated in Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur and Rishikesh.

According to Bhushan, The extension of patient-care facilities on a cashless basis will be particularly beneficial for pensioner beneficiaries of the CGHS. It eliminates the need for them to submit individual reimbursement claims and follow up for approvals.

Thus, this move is a significant and people-centric development, wherein CGHS beneficiaries, whether serving or retired, can avail of cashless treatment facilities at these three esteemed medical institutes.

The CGHS scheme is a government-run initiative providing healthcare to central government employees and pensioners, their dependents, and other entitled beneficiaries. By accessing cashless medical facilities, CGHS beneficiaries can avoid the hassle of individual reimbursement claims and approvals. Instead, they can directly avail of the services at the three premier institutes, AIIMS in New Delhi, PGIMER in Chandigarh, and JIPMER in Puducherry.

This move is likely to ease the burden on pensioner beneficiaries who often need frequent medical attention and may face difficulties in getting timely reimbursements. The availability of cashless medical facilities will eliminate the need for follow-ups and hasten the process of treatment and recovery.

With this initiative in place, CGHS beneficiaries can now get quality medical attention without having to go through the complicated reimbursement process. It is a significant step towards ensuring healthcare accessibility and affordability to all and improving the overall health infrastructure of the country.
