An MLA from Devadurga district, Karemma Nayak, was allegedly abused and heckled by eight people when she visited the scene of the death of an electricity maintenance official named Virupakshi on June 4. The incident occurred in Taluk Aladamara village. Some people reportedly threw shoes at Nayak during the altercation. A case has since been registered against the eight people in the Devadurga police station. The police acted on the basis of a complaint filed against them. The incident has attracted significant attention in the Indian media.
