A car involved in multiple crashes on the Iju Bridge has plunged into a river, causing the complete blockage of Ota-Idiroko Road in the Ado-Odo/Ota local government area of Ogun state. This incident was reported in a traffic alert issued by the Ogun state sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Saturday, February 10. The crashes involved a truck, two tricycles, and a car on the Iju River Bridge.
Efforts are underway to manage the situation, with FRSC officers and other security agencies present at the accident scene. A crane is being awaited to assist in the rescue operation, while the FRSC is also working to remove the car from the river.
Otta – Idiroko route is completely blocked, operatives are on the ground managing the situation, said Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun FRSC Sector Command.
In a related development, a tragic auto accident occurred in the Makarfi local government area of Kaduna state on Sunday, January 21, resulting in the loss of sixteen lives and injuries to four individuals. The accident, which occurred at Tashar Yari around 11:20 am, involved a bus traveling from Kano to Markudi in Benue state. Excessive speed was determined to be the cause, resulting in the driver losing control of the vehicle and colliding with a ditch, according to Kabir Nadabo, Kaduna state’s sector commander of the FRSC.
