Capacity Building Program for Elementary Mathematics at SDSM School

SDSM School for Excellence in Jamshedpur recently hosted a two-day Capacity Building Programme on Elementary Mathematics on June 18th and 19th, 2023. The event aimed to enhance teaching skills and promote interactive learning methods among educators from various educational institutions.

The programme featured resource persons, Kumar Piyush from Divine Happy School in Bhagalpur, and Prasenjit Kumar Thakur from DAV Nandraj Public School in Ranchi, both associated with the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Patna. During the training, the participants discussed the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone usage in mathematical education and explored innovative teaching methods.

With the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Moushumi Das, the Principal and Venue Director, the Capacity Building Programme commenced. About 65 participants comprising teachers and educators attended the training session. The primary objective of the programme was to facilitate learning with an element of fun, employing different interactive activities, including games and other teaching tools.

Through this programme, SDSM School aimed to create a conducive learning environment for students by fostering their interest and understanding of elementary mathematics. The training focused on enhancing the pedagogical skills of teachers and educators so that they could use innovative techniques to teach the subject and make their classes more interactive and engaging.

This Capacity Building Programme serves as a platform for educators to improve their teaching skills and explore new teaching methods. The programme also promotes the use of interactive teaching tools while acknowledging the potential harms that mobile phone usage can cause to students’ mathematical abilities.

Overall, the Capacity Building Programme on Elementary Mathematics at SDSM School was a success as participants explored new techniques and gained insights into the subject.
