Cannabis Bust: HK$20M Seized in Raid on Two Farms, 3 Arrested

The two alleged managers of the cannabis farms, aged 34 and 37, were apprehended on charges of cultivating cannabis plants. Furthermore, one of the suspects faced an additional charge of obstructing the police as he attempted to escape arrest. Both men are scheduled to appear before Kwun Tong Magistracy on Monday, where their legal proceedings will commence. A 36-year-old woman, who was the tenant of the Kwai Chung unit, was also charged with the same crime but has been granted bail.
According to investigations, the two units had been operating as cannabis farms for approximately nine months, contributing to the local black market with an estimated annual production capacity of 352 kilograms of cannabis. This successful operation by the police is expected to have a significant impact on curbing the supply of marijuana to the local market.
Expressing satisfaction with the outcome, a police spokesperson stressed the importance of intercepting the flow of drugs into the local market. Acknowledging the successful raid, the spokesperson did not rule out the possibility of more arrests in the future.
