I apologize for any confusion. Here is the news body without the unnecessary note:

The defense attorney for the notorious BTK serial killer has firmly denied his client’s involvement in the disappearance of an Oklahoma teenager in 1976. Despite escalating tensions between the sheriff and prosecutor over the investigation, defense attorney Rob Ridenour insists that his client has already confessed to his crimes and is not connected to the case.

BTK, an acronym for bind, torture, and kill, refers to the crimes committed by Dennis Rader between 1974 and 1991. Rader played a devious cat and mouse game with investigators and reporters for decades before eventually being apprehended in 2005. Currently serving 10 life terms in Kansas, one for each of his confessed victims, Rader’s defense attorney claims his involvement in the disappearance of Cynthia Kinney is unfounded.

The dispute between the Osage County Sheriff’s department and District Attorney Mike Fisher has intensified as they clash over the handling of the investigation. Sheriff Eddie Virden and Undersheriff Gary Upton have recently identified Rader as a prime suspect in Kinney’s disappearance and the death of Shawna Beth Garber, whose body was discovered in 1990 in McDonald County, Missouri.

One piece of evidence cited by the sheriff’s office is an entry in Rader’s journal that mentions PJ-Bad Wash Day, where he suggests that laundromats are ideal places to observe and dream about potential victims. Additionally, Virden points to Rader’s employment history as a regional installer for a security system company at the time of the disappearance, albeit without concrete proof that Rader was involved with the installation of alarms near the laundromat where Kinney was last seen.

However, District Attorney Fisher has expressed skepticism, stating that he has not seen any evidence that raises reasonable suspicion against Rader. This discrepancy has strained the relationship between Fisher and Sheriff Virden, described as broken by Fisher. In response, Virden has voiced his fury, accusing Fisher of attempting to derail the investigation by contacting the prison where Rader is incarcerated to halt further interviews.

In light of the public interest surrounding this revived cold case, Fisher has requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to formally look into Kinney’s disappearance. As tensions rise and differing perspectives clash, a task force has been established to assist in the ongoing investigation.

The debate over the involvement of the BTK serial killer in the 1976 disappearance of Cynthia Kinney continues to unfold, with the defense attorney vehemently denying any connection and the sheriff’s department standing firm in their suspicions. As the case moves forward, the truth behind this decades-old mystery remains to be uncovered.
