BSNL, the public sector telecom services provider, is set to roll out 4G services in the Indore division of Madhya Pradesh by the end of this year. Sanjeev Singhal, the general manager of BSNL’s Indore division, announced this during a meeting of the Telecom Advisory Committee. This move by BSNL aims to provide 4G facilities to 1,058 villages in Indore where no company currently offers these services.
According to Singhal, the Indian government plans to provide 4G facilities to villages across the country where no other company offers such services. In total, 24,680 villages have been identified for this initiative, and the government aims to have them connected by December 2023.
Responding to a query from MP Lalwani during the meeting, Singhal revealed that BSNL is working on setting up an indigenous core network that will benefit the country in various areas. The tender for this project has already been approved, and a purchase order has been issued. Singhal also mentioned that the 4G facility is expected to be launched in the city of Indore by December.
During the meeting, MP Lalwani raised concerns about the need for additional Aadhaar correction centers in the city due to the large amount of Aadhaar updation and creation required. Singhal assured Lalwani that BSNL currently operates Aadhaar counters at Nehru Park, Transport Nagar, Meghdoot Park, and Tilak Path. In response to the demand, BSNL plans to commission four more counters within a month.
In addition, Lalwani and committee member Ramswaroop Mundra, alongside general manager Singhal, unveiled a new toll-free number, 1800 4444, that BSNL customers can use to register complaints about their landline, mobile number, or broadband services. This number will provide customers with a convenient way to address any issues they may have.
BSNL’s initiative to expand its 4G services to villages in Indore division and other remote areas demonstrates its commitment to bridging the digital divide in India. By providing 4G facilities where no other company offers them, BSNL aims to empower these communities and bring them into the digital era. The establishment of additional Aadhaar correction centers and the introduction of the new toll-free complaint registration number further highlight BSNL’s dedication to improving customer service and addressing the needs of its users.
