BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has joined forces with energy software company Sheru to launch India’s first vehicle-to-grid station. This revolutionary partnership aims to decrease carbon emissions, reduce peak power demands, and reinforce the power grid.
Sheru’s advanced bidirectional battery-swapping station will provide interchangeable batteries for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and rickshaws, enabling their mobility while supplying power to BRPL during peak usage periods. By capitalizing on the advantages of both entities, this agreement benefits all parties involved.
The Chief Operating Officer of Sheru, Mr. Shikhar Sharma, believes there is great potential with this collaboration. He states that they are providing a renewable power supply by tapping into the battery capacity of electric vehicles. This provides an economic alternative to purchasing a new storage battery while generating income for EV and battery owners.
BRPL has also expressed its enthusiasm with the partnership. By utilizing the battery capacity of the station to support the grid, BRPL is taking steps towards establishing a model of sustainable electric vehicle charging. BRPL looks forward to learning and enhancing its grid ancillary when it comes to the integration of renewable energy sources.
This initiative taken by BRPL and Sheru is just one way in which both entities have embraced the renewable energy industry. By working together, they are creating an integrated system that will benefit both the mobility and power sectors. It is an endeavor that is sure to benefit the nation as a whole and is a sign of progress in India’s efforts to tackle climate change.
