Brutal Murder of Delhi Teen Takes Dark Turn as Stalker Faces Fresh Rape Charges
In a disturbing turn of events, the case of a brutal murder in Delhi has taken a dark twist as the stalker now faces fresh rape charges. Three months after a 16-year-old girl was tragically murdered by her stalker in Shahbad Dairy, outer Delhi, police have filed a new first information report (FIR) with rape charges. Authorities are currently investigating whether the victim was sexually abused by her assailant.
The horrifying incident occurred on May 28 when Sahil, a 20-year-old man and the victim’s former boyfriend, mercilessly stabbed her at least 16 times. Shockingly, even as the assault unfolded, several passersby failed to intervene, leaving the teen to suffer. The entire murder was caught on a surveillance camera, sparking widespread outrage across the capital.
Following the heinous crime, Sahil fled to his aunt’s house in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. However, police managed to track him down the next day after tracing a call he made to his mother. Currently in judicial custody, Sahil initially faced charges of murder. Subsequently, authorities added additional sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sexual harassment and insulting the modesty of a woman, as well as relevant sections of the Arms Act, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act.
Simultaneously, the victim’s samples were sent to the forensic science laboratory (FSL) to determine if she had been sexually assaulted. Recently, the police received the FSL report, revealing evidence of sexual abuse. Consequently, a fresh FIR was registered, this time under IPC section 376 (rape) and the POCSO Act, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
An unnamed police officer stated, It does not matter whether or not the victim gave her consent to have sex because she was a minor. This comment reflects the understanding that consent is not applicable in cases involving minors, emphasizing the legal implications of the incident.
Moving forward, the investigation will focus on whether Sahil himself sexually abused the victim or if someone else was involved.
