Brazil has been facing a significant surge in cyberattacks, leading to a rapid evolution in the country’s cybersecurity market. According to the recent ISG Provider Lens Cybersecurity – Solutions and Services report for Brazil, the country experiences the second highest number of cyberattacks in Latin America, following Mexico. This alarming situation has prompted vendors in Brazil to adapt their security measures and solution architecture to meet the growing demand for next-generation security.

Cybersecurity is a major strategic issue in Brazil, stated Doug Saylors, partner and co-lead of ISG Cybersecurity. The continuous rise in cyber threats poses a threat to business continuity and customer confidence, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced cybersecurity measures.

The report highlights data from CERT (Center for Studies, Response and Treatment of Security Incidents in Brazil), revealing that cyberattacks peaked in 2020, dropped slightly in the following year, but grew once again in 2022. Noteworthy victims of these attacks include government agencies, hospitals, education groups, manufacturers, retail chains, and technology companies.

As technology advances at an unprecedented pace, the cybersecurity threat landscape in Brazil is also expanding rapidly. Enterprises have been forced to combat ransomware, social engineering attacks, insider threats, IoT-based attacks, and attacks on their supply chains. Cyberthreats are continuously evolving, with new possibilities for danger and attack methods emerging constantly.

The existing internal expertise within many companies is often insufficient to manage cybersecurity risks effectively, the ISG report highlights. This creates challenges in identifying and mitigating cyber threats, underscoring the importance of engaging with providers who possess the necessary tools, services, and experience to assist enterprises in addressing these risks more effectively.

It is vital for enterprises to keep up with the latest trends and technologies for managing security risks, emphasized Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader of ISG Provider Lens Research. Maintaining awareness of these trends equips companies with the knowledge they need to invest in the most effective solutions and expertise, safeguarding their systems and data.

In order to combat the escalating cyber threats, companies in Brazil must prioritize cybersecurity efforts, seeking support from experienced providers equipped with the latest tools and knowledge. By adopting comprehensive security measures and staying up to date with emerging trends, businesses can better protect themselves against evolving cyber threats.

The ongoing battle between cybercriminals and cybersecurity professionals requires companies to remain vigilant and proactive. By investing in robust security measures and collaborating with reputable cybersecurity providers, businesses in Brazil can ensure greater protection for their critical infrastructures, sensitive data, and customer trust.
