India has directed border guarding forces to keep a close eye on illegal encroachments and suspicious activities in their area of operation that may pose a threat to national security, according to official sources. Central agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau and Research and Analysis Wing must be informed immediately if a suspect installation or facility is detected, while state authorities including district administration, police and intelligence must also be made aware of activities. Forces including the Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Sashastra Seema Bal have previously reported suspicious warehouses, godowns and religious centres in areas close to borders.
