Bond Revoked for Bryant Man in Federal Court, Facing Weapons Charge
A federal court has revoked the bond of a Bryant man who is facing a weapons charge in connection with the murder of a 7-year-old girl. Cortney Tyronne McGee, 20, was arrested in May 2022 along with his brother and another individual after they fled from police following the shooting death of Chloe Alexander. The incident occurred near the Little Rock Zoo when the family’s car was fired upon.
McGee was out on bond on federal weapons charges related to his arrest in May when he was arrested again by state police on weapon and drug charges. This subsequent arrest prompted the U.S. Probation Office to file a motion to revoke McGee’s bond. The motion cited the recent arrest, as well as an incident report from the Bryant police regarding alleged fraudulent ATM transactions.
During the heated revocation hearing, McGee’s attorney argued against the validity of the evidence presented, questioning the identification of McGee in surveillance videos. The argument ultimately led to McGee agreeing to be detained until his trial, scheduled for August 29 before U.S. District Judge Billy Roy Wilson. With this agreement, there is no need for further testimony or evidence from the United States.
The case has garnered significant attention due to the heinous nature of the crimes involved. McGee’s brother, Keaton Jamal McGee, has already been sentenced to 30 years in prison for a shooting death that prosecutors described as cold and calculated. Additionally, Kenjata Daniels, one of the individuals arrested with the McGee brothers, has been charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting of Chloe Alexander.
The situation surrounding Cortney Tyronne McGee’s bond revocation continues to be a matter of public interest. As the trial approaches, further details will likely emerge and shed light on the events surrounding the tragic murder of Chloe Alexander. The federal court’s decision to revoke McGee’s bond underscores the seriousness of the charges he faces.
