Body of Missing Georgia Mother Found, Husband Charged with Murder
The body of Imani Roberson, a missing Georgia mother of four, has been discovered after over two weeks of searching, according to local authorities. Tragically, her husband, Donell Anderson, has been charged with her murder.
Imani Roberson and her two children were last seen on July 16 in Atlanta, returning from a family dinner at their grandmother’s house. Concerned, Roberson’s mother, Clarine Andujar-White, attempted to contact her daughter multiple times the following day but received no response. Andujar-White traveled to Conyers, a city east of Atlanta, to check on her daughter, only to find an empty house upon arrival.
After reporting Roberson missing on July 17, authorities launched an investigation. Their suspicions were heightened when blood was discovered inside Roberson’s home and other locations. Over a week later, her burnt-out vehicle was found. Finally, on Friday, search dogs located her body. Subsequently, Donell Anderson was taken into custody, and charges were filed against him.
Sheriff Eric Levett expressed his determination to ensure justice during a press conference, stating, When that body was found, it was our mission to convince our judges and the district attorney’s office that we have enough evidence to secure a warrant and remove him from the streets.
Donell Anderson has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, aggravated assault, and carrying a firearm during a felony, according to public documents from Rockdale County, Georgia. Although he will eventually retain his own attorney, he was initially represented by a public defender in court on Sunday.
Sheriff Levett assured reporters that the investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may follow. At the press conference, both of Imani Roberson’s parents made statements. Andujar-White tearfully expressed their devastation, stating that their worst fears had been confirmed. Meanwhile, Roberson’s father, Ronald Acklin, despite having endured a similar tragedy before, broke down in tears.
Sheriff Levett took the opportunity to address the issue of domestic abuse, urging victims to speak out against any form of mistreatment. If there’s anyone that’s out here that is involved in a toxic relationship… it is not worth keeping quiet… say something so we can end such tragedies like this, he emphasized.
Tragically, Imani Roberson’s four children are now left without both parents. They will be staying with their grandparents, who will provide them with care and support. A candlelight vigil in Conyers is planned to honor Roberson on Monday.
