Body of Missing 12-Year-Old Found in Ashram Well: High-Level Probe Demanded
The body of a 12-year-old student from Rajendra Kanya Ashram, who had been reported missing since Saturday, was tragically discovered in a well on the ashram premises. The incident, which took place in the Katthiwada block of Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh, has prompted calls for a high-level investigation into the matter.
The deceased, identified as Ronak from Badi Pol village, went missing on Saturday, and a complaint was lodged later in the evening. Workers at the ashram stumbled upon her lifeless body in the well and promptly alerted the authorities.
According to the warden, Ronak had left the ashram to buy a pencil from the market but failed to return before evening. A search was conducted, resulting in the discovery of her body floating in a well situated within the ashram premises on Sunday morning.
Police station in-charge Jaideep Singh Bhadoria stated that Ronak’s body has been recovered from the well and sent to the district headquarters for a postmortem examination. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, and the exact cause of her death will be determined once the autopsy report is available.
During the course of their investigation, authorities have learned that Ronak was a sixth-grade student who was under immense academic pressure. Her distraught father, Govind, revealed that he had seen her just 15 days prior, and she appeared to be fine but was concerned about her studies. Ronak, who had two younger brothers, harbored dreams of becoming an officer in the future.
Shankar Bamnia, the leader of Bhil Sena, has accused the ashram officials of being complicit in the incident. He highlighted the distressing fact that Ronak’s body was uncovered in a well located a mere 50 feet away from her room. Bamnia has urged the collector and the superintendent of police to initiate a thorough investigation into the matter.
Currently, Rajendra Kanya Ashram caters to over 300 girls.
