Law enforcement in Texas confirmed the body of a missing 11-year-old girl was found in a news conference on Tuesday.
Audrii Cunningham, 11, of Livingston was reported missing on Thursday. Officials sent out an AMBER alert and searched for the missing girl for several days.
According to officials, Audrii’s body has been found in the Trinity River. The river authority lowered the river so that certain areas could be searched.
Polk County DA Shelly Bush-Sitton said that based on evidence collected, arrest warrants are being issued for Don Steven McDougal. Officials say he will be charged with capital murder for the death of Audrii.
Cell phone analysis, videos collected, and info received from McDougal led law enforcement to the location where she was found in the river, Sheriff Byron Lyons said. He credited the cooperation from those who sent information and video to law enforcement as a large part of being able to pinpoint the location, and to charge McDougal when he is charged.
McDougal was arrested on Friday on an unrelated charge of aggravated assault. He is currently held in jail.
Authorities have a main person of interest in custody on an unrelated charge. Don Steven McDougal was arrested Friday on a charge of aggravated assault.
