The body of a man was discovered along U.S. 23 in Scioto County last week, according to Scioto County Sheriff David Thoroughman. On January 17, the sheriff’s office received a call to the 911 communication center reporting a deceased person. The remains were found near the 2200 block, just north of Portsmouth. The investigation was initiated by a deputy, and the Rosemount Fire Department assisted in retrieving the body. An autopsy was conducted by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office, which was able to identify the body as Wilbur Silvia, 48, whose last known address was in McDermott, Ohio. Silvia had been missing for approximately one month, but no missing report had been filed since he often took off without contacting family or friends. Sheriff Thoroughman stated that no foul play is suspected at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
