The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) is set to host its 25th Annual Reel Black Men Short Film Showcase and Virtual Film Festival in Hollywood, California. This event aims to celebrate and highlight the work of emerging Black male filmmakers while providing an opportunity for dialogue and discussion surrounding their films. The showcase will feature 47 short films over the course of three days.

The Reel Black Men Short Film Showcase was established 25 years ago with the goal of promoting and supporting the work of Black men in film. Over the years, it has become a platform for talented filmmakers to showcase their artistry and make an impact on the industry. Past participants in the showcase include acclaimed filmmakers such as Ryan Coogler, Nate Parker, Malcom D. Lee, and Tim Story, who have gone on to achieve great success and recognition in the filmmaking world.

The event will kick off with an Opening Night Celebration and Reception on September 22, followed by the Short Film Showcase on September 23 and 24. All in-person events will be held at the Regal L.A. Live in Downtown Los Angeles, while the Virtual Festival will be streamed online via BHERC.TV from October 1 to 8.

Tickets are available for purchase for each day of the event, as well as a weekend pass that includes additional perks such as a t-shirt and gift bag. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the educational programs of the BHERC.

The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center was founded by Sandra Evers-Manly as a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the preservation and advancement of Black images in film and television. Through various initiatives such as film festivals, awards ceremonies, scholarships, and training programs, BHERC aims to recognize the contributions of Black individuals in the entertainment industry and provide opportunities for their development and growth.

For more information about the event and to purchase tickets, interested individuals can visit the BHERC website or contact them directly. The showcase promises to be a celebration of Black filmmakers and their impact on the industry, while also offering insights into the creative process and the challenges faced by independent filmmakers.
