Nearly 400 people gathered at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday night to honor the achievements of Black and minority businesses and professionals. The Black Chamber of Commerce Palm Beach County hosted its Annual Ascension Awards, showcasing the excellence of both established and emerging enterprises. The event featured keynote speaker F. Malcolm Cunningham Jr., an attorney known for his work with renowned law firms, who emphasized the importance of networking and community.

A distinguished panel of five individuals scrutinized numerous nominations to determine the winners for each category. Among the recipients was The Pink Queen Foundation, which was recognized as the Nonprofit/Public Sector Organization of the Year. Founded by Tenecia Burton-Sproull, a cancer survivor herself, the foundation is dedicated to providing support and assistance to individuals affected by cancer, including survivors, caregivers, and children.

Taking home the award for Emerging Black Business of the Year was Dynamic Duo PT+, a physical therapy practice founded by Dr. Angela Mason and Dr. Tyre Patterson. Their unique model of tailored and individualized care has garnered attention and appreciation within the community.

The distinction of Distinguished Black Business of the Year was bestowed upon Zeus Consulting Services, led by Melanie and Etzar Roger. The consulting firm offers expertise in various areas such as business education, sales, marketing, optimization, solutions, and administrative services.

The recipient of the Dicky Sykes Social Justice Advocate Award was Alexcia Cox, the deputy chief assistant state attorney in the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office. Cox’s work leading the Domestic Violence Unit has been instrumental in addressing and combating domestic violence in the region.

In recognition of their exceptional storytelling that sheds light on the Black experience and highlights critical issues for communities of color, The Palm Beach Post received the coveted President’s Award.

Ensuring the evening’s smooth proceedings was Mistress of Ceremony Hollani Davis, a morning anchor at WPTV.

The Annual Ascension Awards not only celebrate success but also provide a platform for Black and minority businesses and professionals to network and foster community connections. Through their dedication and excellence, the winners have solidified their place within Palm Beach County and inspired others to strive for achievement in their respective fields.
