BJP Plans ‘No-Trust’ Motion Against Baghel Government in Chhattisgarh
In an attempt to highlight alleged corruption within the Bhupesh Baghel-led government of Chhattisgarh, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to bring a no-confidence motion during the upcoming monsoon session of the state assembly. The BJP aims to shed light on issues related to mining and excise, as well as the public service commission and public distribution system.
During a state BJP Legislature party meeting chaired by leader of the opposition Narayan Chandel, the decision to propose a no-confidence motion was made on Tuesday. The monsoon session of the Chhattisgarh Assembly will take place from July 18 to 21, and it is expected to be a stormy affair. With the upcoming assembly elections in November-December, this will be the last session before the polls. While BJP leaders argue that the four-day duration of the session is too short, they are demanding an extension to at least ten sittings.
We will bring a no-confidence motion against the Bhupesh Baghel-led Congress government. Through the no-confidence motion, we will bring attention to the burning issues in the state. We will also expose the prevalent corruption in coal, liquor, public service commission, and public distribution system, said the state BJP chief. He further added that the people of the state have become frustrated and hopeless under the current regime.
Responding to the BJP’s plans, Congress MLA Vikas Upadhyay accused the BJP of neglecting constructive roles and discussions in the Assembly. With only 14 MLAs, they are now desperate to project themselves to cover up their own failures with their plan for a no-confidence motion in the last session of the House, Upadhyay said. It is important to note that the Congress party holds 71 legislators in Chhattisgarh.
As the BJP moves forward with its no-confidence motion, it is expected that both sides will engage in heated debates and discussions during the upcoming session.
