BJP national president J. P. Nadda has expressed disappointment with party MPs for not showing interest in party programmes. Nadda had instructed them to participate in the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan from May 30-June 30, a special campaign aimed at reaching out to the public, gathering feedback and passing it on to the party high command. However, it appears that neither his instructions nor the campaign are being taken seriously. During a virtual meeting last month, Nadda asked MPs to attend party programmes and submit a detailed report of their progress or face a possible replacement ahead of the 2024 general election. During a subsequent virtual meeting to review participation in the campaign, it emerged that many MPs are not attending the events or submitting progress reports as requested. Nadda warned MPs to become more involved or face action. In the Budget session, the Prime Minister had asked MPs to be active in campaigns and non-political works or risk facing action in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
