BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad has demanded a court-monitored CBI probe into the recent violence in West Bengal. Prasad stated that there has been a rise in bomb blast incidents in the state and called for the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to handle these cases. He expressed concern over the prevailing atmosphere of fear and violence in Bengal, highlighting the plight of women who have been threatened by workers from the ruling Trinamool Congress party. Prasad, who led one of the three fact-finding teams to Bengal, submitted his observations to BJP President JP Nadda.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul held a protest outside the state Assembly after the Speaker refused to allow the party’s women wing MLAs to bring up the issue of Bengal violence in the House. Paul emphasized the need for a discussion on the violence in Bengal and expressed the party’s intention to also address the situation in Manipur.
In response to these developments, Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, upon returning from the national capital, assured that relief would soon be provided to the people of West Bengal. Adhikari mentioned that the party would attempt to bring an adjournment motion on the issue and called attention to the ongoing protest by the party’s women wing against the atrocities committed against women in the state.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress staged a protest rally in South Kolkata, criticizing the central government for its handling of the situation in Manipur.
