BJP MLA C.N. Ashwath Narayan has approached the Karnataka High Court for quashing a first information report (FIR) lodged against him over his controversial statement made during the 2018 state Assembly elections, in which he called for Siddaramaiah to be finished off. The complaint was filed months ago, however, Narayan claims that the case has been filed against Articles 14 and 21 of the Constitution and has been lodged illegally. The case was registered over allegations of hate speech in Mysuru district, under the grounds of causing riot and willful provocation without proof. In his complaint, Congress state spokesperson M. Lakshman urged the police to take action against Narayan after claims of a public provocation to kill Siddaramaiah.
