Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Shimla staged a protest on Saturday demanding a National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the murder of a 21-year-old man in Chamba. Five people have been arrested in connection with the killing and the officials have said that the case has been registered. BJP leader Suresh Bhardwaj has condemned the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led government for stopping former Himachal Pradesh CM and BJP leader Jairam Thakur from visiting the victim’s family, calling it an insult to democracy. The deceased was a Hindu boy and there are allegations that he was in a relationship with a girl from the minority community but the police have said that there have been no communal flare-ups in the area.
