Newly inducted Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jagadish Shettar expressed his sense of returning home after rejoining the party. Shettar, a former Karnataka Chief Minister, had joined the Congress ahead of the 2023 legislative elections but returned to the BJP after meeting with the party’s national leadership and state leaders.
Shettar stated, Bharatiya Janata Party is my home. I came back to my home, emphasizing his loyalty and connection to the BJP. He joined the party on Thursday (January 25) following the guidance of senior leaders such as Amit Shah, JP Nadda, BY Vijayendra, and BS Yediyurappa.
Responding to a question about contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Shettar stated that he would follow the directives of the party’s high command.
BS Yediyurappa, a senior BJP leader, welcomed Jagadish Shettar back to the party, stating that Shettar had been contemplating his return for the past few days. Yediyurappa further expressed his satisfaction with Shettar rejoining the BJP and mentioned that he would try to contact Laxman Savadi, another former BJP leader who had also quit the party, to discuss the possibility of his return as well.
Shettar officially rejoined the BJP in the presence of BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Bhupender Singh Yadav, Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa, and Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar in the national capital.
The speculations surrounding Shettar’s return to the BJP had been ongoing, with Congress leaders in Karnataka attributing the move to the BJP’s leadership crisis in the state. Shettar had initially left the BJP and joined the Congress in April 2023 ahead of the Karnataka assembly elections.
